UPDATE: PCSD arrests man suspected of firing gun inside of home

Pima County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 33-year-old man after a family member reported that he fired a gun inside a home in the area of East Placita Rancho Soldados, near North Soldier Trail and north of East Tanque Verde.

The call involved a man experiencing a mental health crisis while armed with a weapon, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies tried to communicate with him by phone and text.

During the incident, the man threw the weapon over a wall. Deputies took him into custody at 11 a.m. and transported him to a hospital with minor injuries.

PCSD said there was a large deputy presence in the neighborhood.
