Thursday, July 23, 2026 · Reported by KGUN 9 Local News
The city of Tucson and Tucson Police Department’s VIVA program demolished a building at First Avenue and Fort Lowell Road. Officials said the property was linked to trespassing and drug use.
The area, which includes Miracle Mile, Fort Lowell and parts of First Avenue, has experienced significant crime, according to Lt. Alfredo Mesa with Tucson Police Department’s Operation Division West Facility.
Mesa said removing the building is intended to disrupt criminal networks and make the area safer for nearby residents and businesses.
The demolition is part of a broader effort, and Tucson police will continue monitoring the area.
