Tucson Police K9 Raven to be honored in national memorial run recognizing fallen police dogs

Monday, July 27, 2026 · Reported by KGUN 9 Local News

Tucson Police Department K9 Raven will be honored during the seventh annual K9s United Fallen K9 Memorial Run on National Police K9 Day, Sept. 1. Raven is among 23 police dogs from across the country being remembered for dying in the line of duty during the previous year.

The virtual event includes a 9K, 5K, one mile fun run and one mile walk. People of all ages can register and participate from wherever they are. Proceeds will help provide training, equipment and advocacy for law enforcement K9 teams.

The Tucson Police Department said in an August 2025 social media post that Raven died from injuries suffered in the line of duty in October 2023. The German Shepherd had joined the department in 2023 after completing several months of training for patrol work.

K9s United said the memorial run is meant to preserve the dogs’ memory and recognize their service. The nonprofit reports that it has provided more than $2 million in training and equipment to over 600 law enforcement agencies in 46 states.
