Tucson’s summer calendar is packed with more than 40 things to do from July 30 through Aug. 2. Options include markets, live music, comedy, theater, family activities and events celebrating the final weeks before school starts.
Families can find free school supplies, health resources, music, raffles and children’s activities at the Arizona Bilingual Newspaper’s Kidz Expo and back-to-school event at the Tucson Convention Center. A back-to-school market will also feature local vendors at the MSA Annex from July 31 through Aug. 2.
Other weekend choices include the Summer Night Market at the MSA Annex, a family comedy show at Tucson Improv Movement, a queer comedy variety show, a pet painting party at Hotel McCoy and an ’80s and ’90s dance night at Hotel Congress. Borderlands Market will host its Summerween Revenge event with vendors, live music, costume and watermelon carving contests.
For cooler evening activities, visitors can attend the Desert Museum’s nighttime hours, look at the stars from Mount Lemmon, take a night tour through Sabino Canyon or enjoy themed events at Reid Park Zoo and Tohono Chul. The Fox Tucson Theatre will also host Gary Mullen and The Works for a Queen tribute concert on Aug. 2.
