Southern Arizona is headed for its hottest stretch of the year, with temperatures expected to climb above 100 degrees from Thursday through Sunday.
Thursday will be sunny and hot after some early partly sunny conditions, with a high near 109. Friday is expected to reach 111, followed by an even hotter Saturday with a high around 112. Overnight lows will remain in the low to mid 80s.
Sunday will be mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 110. There is a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m., increasing to 20 percent Sunday night.
A gradual cooldown is expected next week, with highs near 106 Monday, 104 Tuesday and 101 Wednesday. Storm chances will also increase, reaching 40 percent Monday night.
