Southside nonprofit provides free primary health care to people in need

For August, the KGUN 9 Giving Project is highlighting Clínica Amistad, a nonprofit on Tucson’s Southside that provides free primary health care to people who lack access to medical services.

The clinic, located near Irvington Road and South 6th Avenue, has served the community since 2003. Its services include primary care, preventive care and health education, with no cost to patients.

During the past fiscal year, Clínica Amistad provided nearly 3,200 visits to more than 1,000 people. This spring, the clinic also accepted 169 new patients, including many who had been turned away elsewhere.

Donations can support Clínica Amistad’s work. The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona will match the first $500 donated.
