Southern Arizona schools begin new academic year; some districts already in session

Southern Arizona schools are returning for the 2026 to 2027 academic year, with some districts already back in session and others scheduled to start in early August.
Vail School District began classes for pre-K through eighth grade on July 20. High school students returned July 27. Tanque Verde Unified and Sunnyside Unified started July 30.
Sahuarita Unified, Catalina Foothills, Marana Unified and Continental Elementary are scheduled to begin August 3. Amphitheater Public Schools starts August 5.
Altar Valley Elementary, Flowing Wells Unified and Tucson Unified are set to welcome students on August 6. Dates are for students' first day of school and are current as provided.
