Six months on, Guthrie case still priority for PCSD, per Sheriff Nanos

Six months after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Foothills home, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department continues to treat the case as a priority, Sheriff Chris Nanos said.

Nanos said investigators are examining DNA and video evidence, with help from private companies. He said the case is not cold, though some information cannot be shared publicly. Investigators are also continuing to review DNA for possible family connections that could help identify a person involved.

The investigation included two ransom notes. The first was sent to KGUN 9 and two other media organizations two days after Guthrie’s disappearance. A second note, later released by the Sheriff’s Department, claimed Guthrie died soon after she was taken and was buried in a natural area. The note did not provide evidence confirming those claims.

Nanos said he will not declare Guthrie dead without evidence such as remains or a burial site. He said he remains in contact with Guthrie’s family, including Savannah Guthrie, and continues to ask the public to report even small details that could help solve the case.
