Santa Cruz County declares emergency after monsoon flooding

Thursday, July 23, 2026 · Reported by KGUN 9 Local News

The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors declared a countywide emergency Thursday after flooding from July 2026 monsoon storms.

The declaration lets the county continue coordinating emergency operations, respond to infrastructure damage and support recovery efforts. It also allows officials to speed up emergency purchases related to the flooding.

Damage assessments found structural problems at the Nogales Wash and in parts of Hohokam Drive. The county plans to work with the city of Nogales on repairs and restoration.

County officials said they will keep evaluating the damage with partner agencies and share additional updates as they become available.
