Roma Imports has served Tucson Italian food for 27 years and is holding the line on prices

Roma Imports has been serving Italian food in Tucson since 1999. The shop near 16th Street and Vine offers fresh sandwiches, cannoli and imported products such as olive oils, cheeses, hams, pasta and tomatoes.

Mother and daughter Lilian and Sarah Spieth run the business together. They moved to Tucson from Germany and opened Roma Imports without prior experience managing a restaurant.

The shop has recently faced higher costs because of a 15% tariff placed on many European countries, including Italy. Since Roma Imports relies heavily on Italian imports, the added expense has been difficult, but the owners say they have kept prices steady and offer monthly specials on popular items.

Over the years, the Spieths have watched customers grow up and return with families of their own. They credit Tucson’s loyalty and compassion with helping Roma Imports remain part of the community.
