Road rage shooter sentenced after Tucson attack that wounded two teens

David Cedeno, a Tucson man convicted in a road rage shooting that injured two teenage girls, has been sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison. The sentence stems from a March 2026 incident near Golf Links Road and Kolb Road.

The prison terms for two counts will be served at the same time. Cedeno also received three years of probation on another count, to begin after his prison sentence. The court ordered him to pay fines, fees and restitution, including the victims’ medical expenses.

Investigators said the incident began when the victims’ vehicle tried to merge in front of Cedeno’s SUV. After the vehicles turned onto Golf Links Road, police said Cedeno pulled alongside them and fired a handgun. The bullet struck one girl in the leg before hitting the second girl. Both suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The victims gave police details about the SUV, including a personalized license plate and a Hello Kitty sticker. Detectives located Cedeno at a nearby home. He told investigators he thought someone in the other vehicle had a gun, but the victims and a passenger in Cedeno’s SUV said they saw no indication that anyone was armed. Officers recovered a 9mm Taurus handgun during the investigation.
