Project Uptown nears completion at Foothills Mall site on northside

Construction is wrapping up on the first phase of Project Uptown, a large development at the Foothills Mall site on Tucson’s northwest side. Developers are aiming to open the Tempo by Hilton hotel in January 2027.

Bourn Companies and EBCO General Contractor began work on the project after it broke ground in 2024. The development has been planned since 2017 and is now moving into its final finishing work.

Project Uptown is expected to cover about 500,000 square feet and create more than 100 jobs. Plans call for hundreds of luxury apartments, hotels and restaurants, with additional businesses expected to arrive over the next decade.

The developers say the project is intended to create a welcoming place for nearby residents and bring more activity to the area. A nearby business owner also expects increased foot traffic to help local businesses.
