Phoenix firefighter donates kidney to husband, also a firefighter, in remarkable act of love

Madison Geer, a Phoenix Fire Department firefighter, donated one of her kidneys to her husband, Robert Coleman Jr., after he was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease in April 2025.

Coleman works for the Surprise Fire-Medical Department. Both have spent their careers serving as first responders, and now they are receiving support from their community.

The Coleman family is raising money to help cover medical bills related to the kidney transplant.
