New Oro Valley school for students with special needs opens its doors

A new private special education school has opened in Oro Valley with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community open house at its campus on West Magee Road.

Legacy Learning Community is approved by the Arizona Department of Education and operates campuses in Show Low and Concho. The Oro Valley location is the organization’s first in the Tucson area and will serve students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Enrollment will be limited to 30 students. The school has specialized staff, including paraprofessionals trained as registered behavior technicians, and offers occupational and physical therapy on-site when those services are included in a student’s education plan.

Dr. Samantha Molitor is leading the campus after working in special education in public and private schools. Classes are scheduled to begin Aug. 5, and the school still has openings. Families can learn more or request a tour at legacylearningcommunity.org.
