Saturday, July 18, 2026 · Reported by Arizona Daily Star
A 19-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash shortly after midnight Saturday at East Speedway Boulevard and North Richey Boulevard, Tucson police said.
Police said a silver 2021 Hyundai Tucson was turning left from westbound Speedway onto southbound Richey when it was hit by an eastbound motorcycle. Investigators said the motorcycle was traveling at excessive speed.
The motorcyclist, identified as Jaycob Christopher Nieto, was taken to Banner University Medical Center and later pronounced dead. He was wearing a helmet. Police said the 60-year-old Hyundai driver was not impaired.
Investigators cited the driver’s failure to yield and the motorcycle’s speed as major factors. No charges or citations have been issued, and the investigation remains ongoing.
