How you can help shape the City of Tucson's transit security plan

Tucson residents will soon be able to share ideas and concerns about safety on Sun Tran. The city is holding four Safe City Connect: Transit meetings as it continues putting its Transit Safety and Security Action Plan into place.

The plan, approved by the Tucson Mayor and City Council in December 2025, includes added security at transit centers and busy locations, more Tucson Police Department patrols, improved bus stops and facilities, and better tracking of safety incidents. The city also plans to expand its Transit Ambassador Program, which helps riders and connects them with resources.

Meetings are scheduled for Monday, Aug. 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at El Pueblo Senior Center, 101 W. Irvington Road, Building 9; Tuesday, Aug. 11, from noon to 2 p.m. online through Zoom; Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Randolph Recreation Center, 200 S. Alvernon Way; and Thursday, Aug. 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ward 2 Office, 7829 E. Broadway Blvd.

Residents can hear from city officials, ask questions and provide feedback. Transit fares will not be discussed at these meetings, though the city says other public processes will offer opportunities to comment on fare issues. Registration is required for the virtual meeting.
