Heat builds as storm chances continue

Monday, July 27, 2026 · Reported by KGUN 9

Afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are possible across Southern Arizona each day this week, but storm coverage and strength will vary. The best chances through midweek are south and east of Tucson, while the city and central Pima County may see less activity.

Storms that develop could bring heavy rain, localized flash flooding and strong, potentially damaging wind gusts. Many areas may remain dry, even as storms affect nearby communities.

Temperatures will be a few degrees above normal through Wednesday. Highs are expected to rise to 7 to 12 degrees above average from Thursday through the weekend as high pressure strengthens over Arizona.

The heat could briefly lower storm chances Thursday. Rain and thunderstorm chances may increase again around Tucson and central Pima County from Friday through the weekend.
