Grab school supplies and haircuts at DJ Jahmar's 6th annual back-to-school event

DJ Jahmar’s sixth annual back-to-school event will provide free backpacks and haircuts for Tucson children on Sunday, Aug. 2, from 3 to 6 p.m. The event is free and open to kids ages 5 to 14.

Deejays Against Hunger and Brotherz Barbershop will distribute 150 backpacks filled with school supplies. Supplies and haircuts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event will also include music from DJ Jahmar, food vendors and other activities. Barber students will help provide the haircuts as part of the event.

Brotherz Barbershop is at 4515 W. Valencia Road. The organizers say the event is intended to support families, including those facing financial challenges, as children prepare to return to school.
