Fake Tucson Permit Emails Are Asking Residents For Money, City Warns

Tucson officials are warning residents about scam emails that impersonate the city’s Planning and Development Services Department and ask for permit payments.

The city said it does not request payments or wire transfers by email or phone. Official PDSD permit invoices are sent only from noreply@eplmail.tylerapp.com. Messages from other addresses should be treated as suspicious.

The warning applies to homeowners, contractors, developers and others who use the city’s permitting system. Residents should not reply, click links or send money. They can call 311 or reach Planning and Development Services at 520-791-5550 to verify a request.

Anyone who already responded or paid should contact their bank or financial institution immediately and report the incident to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov. The city said it is investigating the scam with its IT partners.
