DOJ monitoring polling places in three Arizona counties, including Pima

The U.S. Department of Justice is monitoring polling places in Pima, Maricopa and Apache counties during Arizona’s primary election.

Staff from the department’s Civil Rights Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Arizona are observing voting procedures. The effort is intended to support compliance with federal voting protections, ballot security and transparency.

Election officials in all three counties gave DOJ personnel credentials to observe at polling locations. The department said the coordination is meant to support communication between federal observers and local officials while protecting voter access and election security.

The DOJ said its Civil Rights Division will accept questions and complaints about possible federal voting rights violations through Election Day on Nov. 3, 2026. The public can also request federal election monitoring, with requests reviewed individually.
