Despite 'tremendous sadness,' Tucson area moves on as Guthrie search stalls

Six months after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Catalina Foothills home, the case remains unsolved and investigators have not publicly named a suspect. The 84-year-old was last seen after her Feb. 1 abduction, which prompted a nationwide search and tens of thousands of tips.

Public signs of the search have largely faded. A yellow ribbon remained on a lamppost outside Guthrie’s home, while her driveway was blocked and signs warned against trespassing. Parking restrictions remain on the street, following complaints about media crews and online personalities who gathered there. Three true crime YouTubers were arrested in June after months of neighborhood complaints.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said the investigation is still active, with local and federal investigators examining DNA and digital evidence. A hair found at Guthrie’s home did not produce a lead, and doorbell video showing a masked person near the house on the night she vanished has not resulted in charges.

Officials continue to ask anyone with information to contact the FBI, the Sheriff’s Department or 88-CRIME. Savannah Guthrie, Nancy Guthrie’s daughter, recently urged people who know something to come forward. Local officials said the community continues to feel sadness and loss as the family waits for answers.
