Court decision means Marana can move forward with major development project

Marana’s planned Downtown development project can move forward after the Arizona Supreme Court declined to review a challenge to the project.

The development would transform land east of Main Street and north of Civic Center Drive into a mixed-use entertainment district. A political action committee had filed referendum petitions opposing a lease and development agreement between the town and Marana Urban LLC.

Marana rejected the petitions, and that decision was upheld by Pima County Superior Court and the Arizona Court of Appeals. The project will now enter the design phase.
