Bisbee Breakfast Club's move to Old Bisbee raises concerns for Erie Street businesses

The Bisbee Breakfast Club is moving from its original location on Erie Street in Lowell to Old Bisbee. The change has raised concerns about how the loss of the longtime restaurant could affect foot traffic and tourism along the historic street.

The Lowell Americana Project has spent years restoring Erie Street’s historic character and promoting it as a roadside destination. Project leaders say the restaurant helped bring visitors to the area, with customers sometimes waiting up to an hour for a table.

That waiting time also brought shoppers to nearby businesses. Nell Kline, owner of the antique store Old Lady Pickers, said the restaurant’s customers regularly visited her shop. She said she plans to remain open, but could eventually have to close if business declines.

Project organizers say they are continuing their work despite the uncertainty. They are developing a radio station in one of the buildings and looking for other ways to attract visitors. The buildings are owned by Freeport-McMoRan, which has allowed the project to use them for displays. The Bisbee Breakfast Club has not announced when the move will happen.
