Arizona man sentenced to 21 years in prison for conspiring to distribute fentanyl

Wednesday, July 22, 2026 · Reported by KOLD

An Arizona man has been sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute fentanyl in South Dakota.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said John Parrado, 38, worked with others in 2025 to obtain and distribute the drug. Prosecutors said he was personally involved in distributing 400 grams of fentanyl, much of which he received through the U.S. mail.

A federal grand jury indicted Parrado in September 2025. He pleaded guilty on Jan. 5, 2026.

Parrado will also serve five years of supervised release and must pay a $100 assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
