Amy Burkert is set to become Bisbee’s next mayor, according to unofficial results from Tuesday’s election. As of Friday afternoon, she had received 56% of the vote.
Four newly elected council members will join Burkert. Current Mayor Ken Budge, who has served since 2020, did not seek another term and plans to spend more time with family who live out of state.
Burkert said she hopes to change how city government operates and increase public participation. She plans to organize roundtables and other opportunities for residents to share their views.
Burkert said she will spend the next 19 weeks learning more about city operations. The new mayor and council members are expected to take office at the first meeting in December. Budge said he will work to support a smooth transition.
