All dogs go to heaven: After founder's death, Fedwell Farms seeks homes for rescued senior dogs

Fedwell Farms, a dog rescue on 40 acres west of Dragoon, is looking for permanent homes for its remaining dogs after founder Carrie Wright died in May. The nonprofit has cared for large and older dogs that were facing euthanasia at municipal shelters.

The rescue was founded about 15 years ago. Kelly Chilvers now oversees the operation with help from volunteers, who hope to continue Wright’s work and find homes for every dog still at the farm.

Volunteer Gail Delio said older dogs can be housebroken, affectionate and settled into household routines. She also encouraged potential adopters to learn about each dog’s personality, activity level and medical needs before making a decision.
