Tucson families have several options for the hours between school dismissal and dinner, including school programs, recreation activities, sports, arts, library events and childcare. Program availability, age requirements and registration deadlines can change, so families should check with each provider before signing up.

Tucson Unified School District’s Interscholastics Department manages school sports and competitive fine arts. Students register through the district’s Athlete Portal, while clubs differ by school. Families in other parts of the metro area may also want to check programs through Amphitheater, Sunnyside, Vail or Catalina Foothills districts.

Tucson Parks and Recreation offers seasonal activities, sports and school break programs. Its KIDCO program provides after-school and summer activities at the city’s 19 recreation centers, including arts, sports and special events. For sports, Arizona District 5 Little League includes 11 baseball and softball programs across Tucson. FC Tucson Youth Soccer Club offers recreational and elite travel teams.
