A new way to learn: new Mathnasium location on Eastside helps students build math confidence

A new Mathnasium center on Tucson’s east side is helping students from kindergarten through high school strengthen their math skills. The location opened in January and offers tutoring with instructors from the local community.

Jordan Ochoa brought her daughter, Lucy, to the center after realizing Lucy was struggling in math. Ochoa said Lucy was working at about a first-grade level, even though she was nearing fourth grade.

Lucy now attends weekly sessions and said the support has helped her do better in school. Older student Danica Soto is also using the program to prepare for high school math and said it has helped her feel more prepared.

Owner Anusha Ramaholli said math is a subject many students find difficult, and that building confidence in math can help students feel more confident in other classes as well.
