About Yoga Loft Tucson
Yoga Loft Tucson is a locally owned yoga studio in Tucson, Arizona, offering a welcoming, non-heated setting for yoga and mindfulness practices. Rooted in the idea that yoga should be accessible, sustainable, and transformative, the studio invites people of all ages, physical abilities, backgrounds, and experience levels into a supportive space. Its approach extends beyond physical movement, with an emphasis on helping students cultivate strength, reconnect with themselves, and build meaningful connections with others.
The studio specializes in Vinyasa yoga, guiding students through breath-led movement designed to strengthen the body and center the mind. Its class offerings also include slow flow, restorative yoga, yin, sound healing, breathwork, and other specialty practices and workshops. The studio describes its environment as unheated, unrushed, and tailored to each student. Alongside more physically challenging classes, the range of offerings gives students opportunities to explore gentler forms of movement and relaxation as they develop a consistent practice.
Yoga Loft Tucson was founded and opened in November 2021, when Ashlee McDougall took on the opportunity to create a studio of her own. Six months later, her friend and peer Jackie Whately became her partner after plans for Jackie to open a separate studio fell through. Together, Ashlee and Jackie have combined 25 years of teaching experience and a shared passion for yoga to build the studio. Since its opening, Yoga Loft has expanded and relocated to its current location in West Tucson.
Ashlee serves as co-owner, teacher, marketing director, and the person behind the studio's social media. Her personal experience with a lung disease has shaped her interest in making yoga more inclusive, particularly for people who may find breath-based practices challenging. The studio does not use potentially aggravating fragrances or smoke, and it has invested in air filtration systems. Jackie, also a co-owner, is the lead teacher and runs the yoga teacher training program. She brings more than 18 years of bodywork experience and uses her anatomical knowledge to help students find an embodied practice suited to their needs. She also teaches private yoga sessions for people with injuries and other physical limitations.
The teaching team includes certified instructors who provide clear cues and personal feedback, with the goal of helping students progress safely. Yoga Loft's community includes people with a range of ages, body types, abilities, and fitness levels, and the studio emphasizes a down-to-earth approach that honors yoga traditions. In addition to regular classes, the studio offers memberships, events, a yoga teacher mentorship option, and a yoga teacher training course. New students can begin with the studio's two-week introductory offer, explore the class schedule, or book a class. From its West Tucson location, Yoga Loft Tucson provides a place to practice Vinyasa, restorative, yin, and other forms of yoga in a non-heated studio centered on mindful movement, connection, and accessibility.
