About Tucson Yoga Sol
Tucson Yoga Sol is a yoga and Pilates studio serving Tucson from Oracle Road in northwest Tucson. Founded by Diane Faircloth Van Maren and Dustin "Dusty" Dame, the studio offers traditional hot yoga, warm yoga, several variations on the Bikram method, and hot Pilates. Its signature practice is the traditional 26+2 method, which combines 26 beginning hatha postures with two breathing exercises in a room heated to approximately 105 degrees. The studio describes the practice as safe and accessible, with heated classes intended to support strength, stretching, cardiovascular activity, and relaxation.
The studio provides several ways to vary a weekly practice. Its yoga schedule includes Warm Sol Fusion in a room heated to 90 to 95 degrees, Bikram "Beats," Classic Bikram Yoga, Express Bikram, Explore 84, Power Yoga, and Yin Yoga. The Bikram classes are held at approximately 103 to 105 degrees, while Yin Yoga is offered at about 80 degrees. Hot Pilates options include Hot Pilates plus HIIT and Hot Pilates Core, both held in rooms heated between 90 and 100 degrees. Class lengths range from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the format.
Tucson Yoga Sol presents its classes as suitable for a range of experience levels, with offerings described as ranging from introductory to advanced. New students can learn about first-time participation and sign up for in-person classes through the studio. The facility includes a spacious heated studio with ventilation, and the schedule is designed to give students choices between classic hot yoga, shorter express classes, warm practices, and Pilates-based conditioning. The studio also maintains a video library for active members, providing another way to practice through the Tucson Yoga Sol platform.
Diane Faircloth Van Maren began practicing the Bikram method in 1999 after several years of back pain. She became certified to teach in 2003 and has remained active in Tucson's hot yoga community. Her own experience with regular practice, which she says eventually left her pain-free, shaped her interest in sharing what she calls the healing power of yoga. Dusty Dame, the studio owner and co-founder, discovered hot yoga during a difficult period in his life and describes a daily practice over two years as transforming his mind, body, and spirit. He attended Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in fall 2012 and has taught in Tucson, Phoenix, Montana, and India.
The teaching team also includes instructors with varied backgrounds and long relationships with yoga. Becca Cammack began practicing Bikram Yoga in San Diego in 2005 and attended teacher training in 2011 after years of daily practice. She returned to her hometown of Tucson in 2013 and found a home studio and yoga community there. Donna Lawson began practicing Bikram Yoga in 2009 after an earlier yoga practice led to injuries, and later earned a 200 RYT certification and a Yin Yoga certification. Erika Genis completed 200 RYT training in 2017 after beginning yoga to address job-related stress and a back injury. Evelyn has taught in Tucson, Cancun, and Santiago, and Sherry Dean has practiced in studios around the world and taught since completing Bikram Teacher Training in 2008.
For Tucson residents, the studio offers introductory options for people new to the practice, student discounts, memberships, and packages for different kinds of participation. Visiting students can also find a dedicated out-of-town option. Tucson Yoga Sol is located in northwest Tucson near Oracle Road, with parking available behind the shopping center and access to the studio through the breezeway. New students can begin by reviewing the class information and first-time guidance, then selecting an in-person class that fits their experience and preferred style.
