The Historic Block was saved from urban renewal during the 1960s and 1970s and placed under the museum's care. That responsibility continues today. The museum's online history resources and History Room give visitors a way to consider the relationship between Tucson's buildings, families, streets, and cultural life alongside the art on view. The campus also includes a community gallery, a research library, and creative space.
