About The Haven
The Haven is a Tucson community resource providing substance use recovery services for women. Since 1970, the organization has helped women heal from substance use disorders through gender-specific programs designed for all women, with particular attention to those who are pregnant, postpartum, or parenting. Its residential treatment center and outpatient clinic welcome women and their children, reflecting a mission centered on reuniting families, rebuilding communities, and strengthening mother and child bonds during recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders.
The Haven offers Residential and Intensive Outpatient Program services, including virtual IOP groups and evening IOP groups. Participants may stay in either program for up to 90 days. The programs are rooted in evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care, with services tailored to the mental health and recovery needs of women. Individual counseling, practical recovery skills, case management, and peer support are part of the support available to participants. For women taking part in IOP who do not have safe and stable housing in the community, The Haven also provides free Recovery Housing during their participation.
Recovery support at The Haven extends beyond treatment sessions. Services and resources include housing navigation, housing assistance, employment readiness, parenting classes, yoga, AcuWellness, and legal aid workshops. Staff can also help participants communicate with courts. These offerings address some of the practical circumstances that can affect recovery, while the organization's approach emphasizes a safe, supportive, and judgment-free place to begin healing. The Haven's stated commitment is "Recovery With Respect," along with supporting members as they pursue their goals and recognizing that recovery is possible for all and limitless in scope.
The organization also offers a Native Ways Program, one of its dedicated program areas. The Haven's mission is to provide professional, holistic services to all women as they unlock their potential while recovering from substance use disorders and moving toward better mental health. Its vision is of healthy communities without stigma toward people facing mental health and substance use challenges. The Haven also identifies contributing to the health of the Tucson community and supporting the professional and personal development of its staff among its values.
The Haven is a nonprofit supported by the community through donations, fundraising events, legacy giving, and in-kind contributions. Its website states that approximately 84 cents of every dollar goes directly toward supporting women in treatment. For outpatient services, including IOP, a sliding fee scale is available, and the organization lists several accepted insurance plans. The outpatient clinic is in midtown Tucson near bus lines, while residential services are provided at a separate Tucson location. Women seeking help can begin by making a program inquiry or contacting The Haven's admissions team. Referrals, feedback, payments, and resource information are also available through the organization's website.
