The business grew from Brewer's personal experience with archery and outdoor activity. Brewer served in the US Army for 11 years and earned the right to wear the Green Beret as a Special Forces soldier. In 2015, he was critically injured by an IED while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan, resulting in the loss of both legs. During his recovery, he found that spending time outdoors was therapeutic and trained to function in nature. His interest in archery began in 2017, followed by work on his own bow and the development of a nearly full-service shop in his garage. Bowhunting became part of that progression.
In 2020, Brewer created the program for and became the Archery Program Manager for Operation Enduring Warrior, a 501c3 nonprofit foundation that supports veterans and first responders. Through that work, he saw the therapeutic benefits archery could offer people dealing with internal and external injuries. Stick Sniper's stated goal is to grow archery within the Tucson community by connecting the sport with fitness, the outdoors, competition, and community.
