Laffs Comedy Caffe is a Tucson comedy club and longtime gathering place for live stand-up, bringing local and nationally touring comic acts to southern Arizona. Located in Tucson, the club has been continuously running since 1988. Its own description identifies Laffs as the oldest comedy club in Arizona and the only comedy club in Tucson, giving it a longstanding place in the city's entertainment landscape.
The club presents live stand-up shows by nationally touring comedians every Friday and Saturday night, with two shows scheduled each evening. Its weekly Thursday Open Mic Night offers a different kind of stage experience, bringing together up-and-coming comedians from the Southwest and giving performers an opportunity to try new material in front of an audience. The names associated with its stage include Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres, Robin Williams, George Lopez, David Spade, Drew Carey, Tim Allen, Maria Bamford, Kevin Nealon, Damon Wayans, Jeff Dunham, Paula Poundstone, Rita Rudner, Mitch Hedberg, Tommy Chong, Louie Anderson, Gilbert Gottfried, and Phyllis Diller. The range of performers reflects the club's connection to different generations and styles of stand-up, from observational comedy and character work to physical and high-energy performances.
Laffs combines its comedy programming with a full bar and appetizer menu, and guests can choose between general and preferred seating for selected shows. The showroom has a two-item minimum for all guests. The club is an adults-only venue, and everyone entering must be at least 21 years old and have valid identification. Reservations can be made with payment at the door, and tickets are also available for shows that offer advance purchase. For reserved seating, guests must arrive at least 30 minutes before showtime to hold their reservations, since seating cannot be guaranteed after that point.
