About Kingfisher
Kingfisher Bar & Grill is a locally owned and operated seafood house in central Tucson, where it has been serving diners continuously since 1993. The restaurant is known for its vintage interior, popular happy hour, and a menu that brings together classic and inventive dishes. Its seafood selection includes oysters, shrimp, shellfish, and fish, with grilled meats and upscale American style fare also available for guests looking beyond the ocean.
The kitchen emphasizes fresh seafood and aims to source local ingredients whenever possible. That approach supports a menu designed to balance familiar preparations with creative touches, while giving the restaurant room to highlight a wide variety of seafood. Lunch and dinner menus are offered, along with a bar area happy hour during weekday afternoons. A kids menu is available all day for children 12 and under, and dessert selections rotate daily.
Kingfisher's beverage program is an important part of the dining experience. Led by a Certified Sommelier, the program includes wine, beer, spirits, and spirit free selections. The restaurant describes the program as award winning, and its beverage menu is intended to complement both the seafood and the broader American style offerings. Together, the food and drink programs reflect the restaurant's goal of creating a dining experience that is simultaneously classic and inventive.
The restaurant also creates opportunities for special gatherings. Its offsite catering service can use a standard catering and canape menu or be customized for a particular event. Large groups and private events can be hosted in the private dining room, with a standard set menu and the option to work with the restaurant on a customized experience. Kingfisher can also arrange live, fresh shellfish for private occasions, including live lobster prepared on site with advance notice. Special seafood requests may be discussed subject to availability and cost.
An annual Summer Road Trip program adds a seasonal format to the regular menu. During the series, Kingfisher explores the cuisine, flavors, and culinary identities of different regions in the United States, along with two international destinations. Each featured menu runs for approximately three weeks and includes a five course prix fixe dinner with beverage pairings. Reservations are required for those prix fixe dinners, which have their own booking process. For a regular meal, diners can make a table reservation and choose from the current lunch, dinner, happy hour, beverage, dessert, or kids menus. The restaurant is in Tucson and also serves local events through its catering and private dining offerings.
