Kingan Gardens

Vintage, elegant outdoor space for weddings and other events.

About Kingan Gardens

Kingan Gardens is a vintage outdoor venue for weddings and other events in Tucson's historic downtown El Presidio neighborhood. The property is a 1902 landmark that was formerly a private residence and later served as the inaugural site of the Tucson Museum of Art. Today, the space combines the character of its historic setting with modern amenities for celebrations ranging from intimate gatherings to larger events. Its central setting, historic lobby, restored carriage house, and walled garden give the venue a distinct sense of place.

The garden spans 15,000 square feet and includes dedicated areas for ceremonies, cocktails, and receptions. The ceremony lawn is set beneath mature trees and blooming trumpet vines, with white padded chairs available for guests. The site can accommodate more than 200 ceremony guests, and Kingan Gardens handles setup and breakdown for the ceremony area. Wireless lapel microphones are available for the couple and officiant, and the space can be reconfigured after the ceremony for lawn games, photo booths, or other activities. Couples may also choose to hold the ceremony on the patio, with dining tables arranged across the lawn. A complimentary one-hour rehearsal period is supervised by a day-of coordinator.

Two furnished getting-ready rooms are located in the main building and renovated carriage house. Each includes salon-style seating, mirrors, lighting, large-screen televisions, Bluetooth speakers, clothes racks, bathrooms, and a small refrigerator for drinks or snacks. The rooms are intended for hair and makeup preparation, private moments before the ceremony, and other parts of the event day. The wedding party can also use a suite in the carriage house, while the main house provides a separate preparation space.

For cocktail hours and receptions, Kingan Gardens offers a covered outdoor bar, cocktail-height tables, stools, and rustic wine barrels for appetizer stations. The venue operates on a BYOB basis, with hosts providing alcohol and trained bartenders handling service. Custom beverage packages are available, along with a self-service station for water, iced tea, and lemonade. Reception dining takes place among date palms and bistro string lights, with catering packages available and a complimentary menu tasting hosted by the in-house caterer. Tables are set with linens, water goblets, crockery, and flatware, and seating arrangements can be configured around the guest list and event style. The venue team manages dining setup and breakdown.

Additional spaces support the details that make an event personal. The climate-controlled Cake Room includes a vintage baby grand piano, a rolling door for cake displays and photographs, and an antique fireplace. It can also be used for dessert stations, photo booths, indoor games, memorial tables, or snack stations, with a self-service coffee station available. Outdoor entertainment amenities include a fixed DJ booth, electrical setups, romantic lighting, and a dance floor beneath the evening sky. Kingan Gardens provides a complimentary music planning meeting, and DJ services are available for a six-hour event, with amplified sound ending at 11 p.m. Pets are welcome, Wi-Fi is available, and an independent parking lot accommodates more than 40 cars. Tours are available for those considering the Tucson venue for a wedding or special event.
