About Building Bonds

Building Bonds is a Tucson dog training facility focused on helping dogs and their people build stronger relationships through positive reinforcement. Its approach combines Family Dog Mediation®, Fear Free principles, and evidence-based training to look beyond simple obedience and explore the reasons behind a dog's behavior. The goal is to develop practical skills and workable solutions that improve daily life for the entire family.

The facility offers group classes for puppies, adolescents, and dogs of all ages and stages. Puppy Start Right supports young dogs through adolescence, with an emphasis on continued social development. All Stages and Ages classes use game-based learning to teach essential manners and life skills while helping dogs and their caregivers develop a shared language. Building Bonds also provides group workshops, webinars, online courses, and video consultations for families seeking instruction in different formats.

For families dealing with more complex concerns, Building Bonds offers Family Dog Mediation® private lessons. This model addresses the underlying causes of problem behaviors rather than focusing only on making dogs comply with human requests. The training considers each dog's learning history, environment, genetics, and individual characteristics, and provides interventions intended to support a healthier relationship between dogs and their caregivers. The approach is presented without judgment, false promises, or unrealistic expectations.

Building Bonds also brings training into the home through its Day School programs. A Family Dog Mediator can work with a puppy or dog while the household is occupied with work, school, or other responsibilities. Programs include Puppy, Manners and Life Skills, and Reactivity Reimagined Day School options. Online training is available for everyday manners as well as more complex behavior issues, allowing instruction to take place in the privacy of the home. The facility says online participants receive the same level of personal instruction as in-person clients.

Other offerings address situations that can be stressful for dogs throughout their lives. The Cooperative Care Club teaches dogs and their caregivers skills for veterinary visits, grooming, and medical procedures using humane, science-based methods. Building Bonds also lists Shock-Free Snake Safety training, along with private lessons and specialized workshops. Its service area includes Tucson, Sahuarita, Green Valley, Corona de Tucson, Oro Valley, and Marana, with a travel charge potentially applying outside the facility. Dog families can get started through a group class, private Family Dog Mediation® lesson, Day School program, online course, video consultation, or another training option suited to their circumstances.
